Foundations

We express our heartfelt thanks to the foundations whose generous support makes our work at ALMAAHH possible. Their belief in our mission empowers us to uplift artists, activate communities, and create spaces of belonging and expression. Foundation support is vital—not only for sustaining our programs, but for ensuring that Latino voices and stories continue to thrive in Houston’s cultural landscape and beyond.

We are deeply grateful to the local council members and government officials and organizations who stand with us and champion ALMAAHH’s mission and vision. Their support affirms the role of arts and culture as essential to the life of our city. As a Houston-rooted initiative, ALMAAHH exists for Houston—its people, its neighborhoods, and its future. Cien Latinos

Cien Latinos por la Cultura was ALMAAHH’s first fundraising campaign. Co-chaired by Paula Mendoza and Wendy Montoya Cloonan, the event was a testament of our community’s commitment to the need, dream, and desire for ALMAAHH, and signified the inception of Phase 1 of the project.

Madrinas and Padrinos

What is a Madrina/Padrino?

In many Hispanic cultures, “madrina” (godmother) and “padrino” (godfather) are people who hold a significant role and symbolize a deep commitment to support and guide someone throughout their life journey. ALMAAHH’s Madrinas and Padrinos play a crucial role in sustaining operations as we embark on building the future home for Latino arts and culture.

ALMAAHH Madrinos and Padrinos are:

  • A community of supporters committed to ALMAAHH’s mission of creating a cultural home for US Latino arts and culture in Houston.
  • Donors who provide vital financial support to ALMAAHH’s planning, development, and programming efforts.
  • Individuals and organizations who believe in celebrating and showcasing the vibrant contributions of Latinos in the arts and culture sector.

The program signifies:

  • A commitment to the development of a unique museum and cultural complex in Houston that will serve as a hub for Latino art and culture.
  • The desire to ensure equitable and authentic representation of the diverse Latino cultures and communities in Houston.
  • A grassroots effort to build support for this significant cultural undertaking.
Why Become a Madrina/Padrino?

By becoming a Madrina/Padrino, you:

  • Support ALMAAHH’s mission to build a permanent home for Latino arts and culture in Houston
  • Help elevate Houston as a national hub for Latino creativity
  • Join a movement that fosters community, creativity, and cultural pride
  • Leave a legacy that honors Latino history and inspires future generations

As a madrina or padrino, you’ll be recognized for your support, invited to exclusive events, and become part of a vibrant network helping shape the future of Latino arts in our city. There are a few additional perks, such as a limited edition collector’s print, plaque and website recognition, and VIP access at our museum opening event (2030).
